Last week, I asked Marcus Fair, Founder of Eternal Media, if he would write a description of Eternal’s latest podcast Knowing the Score. Here is what he sent:
‘Knowing the Score is a hard-hitting podcast series developed by Eternal Media in partnership with young people from New Meddwl Ymlaen—Mind Our Future, Wrexham. Created in response to the poor-quality drug education I received in school—a forgettable talk from a middle-aged woman pulling plastic drug models from a fishing tackle box—I wanted to offer something far more honest and impactful.
Through this project, we trained young people as community journalists, equipping them with interviewing skills so they could ask the questions that truly matter. Over eight episodes, they speak to eight individuals in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction across North Wales, asking everything they’ve ever wanted to know—from how it all began, to the dark places addiction can take you, and ultimately how recovery is possible. These powerful, unflinching conversations explore themes of family, trauma, and hope, giving young people the real answers they’re not getting in school.
Co-funded by Eternal Media and the North Wales Area Planning Board, the series is freely available to schools, colleges, universities, and youth organisations. It’s raw, real, and changing the way we talk about addiction.’
The first four podcasts of this series, 52 – 72 minutes in length, are now available on Eternal Media’s YouTube channel, involving Marcus, Lowri, Alex and Ross as interviewees. Well done Marcus and Lucke Gabriel, and the rest of the team involved in this production.
