For those of you at a loose end over the Christmas holidays, and wanting to know about addiction recovery and related topics, you might like to check out the following podcast made by Eternal Media, in which I participated. The original discussion and filming for the podcast took place on 23 April, at the beginning of my tour of some of the UK’s leading recovery communities—Eternal Media in Wrexham, North Wales Recovery Communities (NWRC in Bangor), BAC O’Connor in Burton-on-Trent and ARC Fitness in Derry/Londonderry in April/May.
Participants in the podcast were my Recovery Voices colleague Wulf Livingston, Marcus Fair (Founder of Eternal Media), Alex Magson (then of NWRC), Tony Ormond of Kaleidoscope/Dechra Newydd (at a later stage), and myself. Lucke Gabriel was in charge of filming the event. The film is one hour and 53 minutes long but is well worth a watch, as reiterated by some of my colleagues over here in Perth.
We covered a good deal of ground including: how we had come to be in the room together; our individual connections with recovery; a far-reaching discussion on the nature of recovery and how it works, in particular with reference to Eternal Media and NWRC; and how recovery communities survive in the wider system of treatment and support. We all really enjoyed how the discussion went.
I hope you enjoy the discussion. Feel free to leave a comment.
